Billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban, known for his outspoken criticism of former President Donald Trump, recently stirred up a debate on social media. Cuban launched a poll on X (formerly Twitter) to gauge his followers’ opinions on whether Kamala Harris or Trump would serve as a better role model for children. The poll drew significant attention from both Trump supporters and X owner Elon Musk.
Cuban’s poll attracted responses from a broad audience, including 804,173 participants. The results revealed that approximately 68.9% of respondents preferred Trump as a role model for their children, while 31.1% leaned towards Harris. The poll sparked a variety of reactions from online users, including Collin Rugg, co-owner of Trending Politics. Rugg shared a video featuring Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana, who argued that voters should focus on a candidate’s policies and records rather than personal likability. Kennedy emphasized that selecting a president is not akin to choosing a spouse but rather assessing who is best suited to lead the country.
In response to Cuban’s post, Republican Valentina Gomez, who recently lost her bid for Missouri Secretary of State, questioned Cuban’s stance, suggesting that Trump’s track record of resilience and entrepreneurship might be preferable to Harris’s perceived lack of substance. Another X user criticised Harris, contrasting her with Trump’s children as examples of his character.
Elon Musk also weighed in on the debate, dismissing Cuban’s poll as misguided and describing him as an “idiot” in a post that attracted Trump’s attention. Trump responded by mocking Cuban’s intelligence, highlighting the contentious nature of their interactions.
Despite his current stance, Cuban had previously supported Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign and even considered the possibility of serving as his vice-presidential running mate. However, as of late July this year, Cuban has publicly supported Harris, marking a significant shift in his political endorsements.
