US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has strongly condemned the deadly explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, describing it as “clearly a terrorist attack.” Speaking after a meeting with India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on the sidelines of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Niagara, Canada, Rubio expressed solidarity with India and commended its handling of the investigation.
Calling India’s response “measured and professional,” Rubio praised local authorities for the speed and precision of their efforts. “The Indians deserve credit,” he said. “They’ve been cautious, efficient, and are doing a great job investigating the attack. Once they have verified facts, they’ll make them public.”
Rubio also confirmed that the United States has offered to assist in the investigation but acknowledged India’s strong capabilities in managing such operations. “We offered to help, but they don’t need our help—they’re doing an excellent job,” he remarked. He added that both sides discussed the potential broader security implications of the blast but agreed to await the official findings before making further assessments.
The US Secretary reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to supporting India’s counterterrorism initiatives and enhancing intelligence-sharing and security cooperation between the two countries. He also extended condolences to the families of the victims, emphasizing that the United States stands with India during this time of tragedy.
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, in a post on X, confirmed his meeting with Rubio and expressed gratitude for his condolences over the loss of lives in the November 10 explosion. He noted that their discussions covered a wide range of issues, including trade, supply chains, the Ukraine conflict, and regional security developments in the Middle East and Indo-Pacific.
The blast, which occurred near the Red Fort on the evening of November 10, claimed at least 12 lives and left several others injured. Preliminary findings have revealed links to a sophisticated “white-collar terror network,” and national agencies continue to investigate the full scope of the attack. Heightened security alerts have since been issued across major Indian cities as authorities work to uncover the masterminds behind the incident.
Rubio’s remarks underscore the strengthening of Indo-US security ties and Washington’s recognition of India’s growing role in combating terrorism and maintaining regional stability.
