Lehigh University has selected Indian American Manoj K Malhotra as the new dean of its College of Business, effective July 1, 2024.
Malhotra will take over from Georgette Chapman Phillips, who will retire next month. His appointment follows a thorough nationwide search for the right candidate to lead the College into its next phase of development and innovation.
Formerly the John R. Mannix Medical Mutual of Ohio Professor of Operations Management and dean of the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University, Malhotra has a track record of implementing successful initiatives. These efforts led to notable increases in enrollment and the introduction of pioneering programs, including an online MBA with a focus on healthcare.
Nathan Urban, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, expressed confidence in Malhotra’s leadership abilities, stating, “Manoj is the ideal person to lead Lehigh’s College of Business in its efforts to become a national leader in business education and research with a focus on the intersection of business and technology.”
Cheryl Matherly, Vice President and Vice Provost for International Affairs, emphasized Malhotra’s wealth of experience and his potential to support the College of Business’s growth.
According to the university, Malhotra’s vision aligns closely with Lehigh Business’s strategic objectives, which prioritize lifelong learning, impactful research, and community involvement.
In response to his appointment, Malhotra noted, “I was drawn to the dean’s role at Lehigh Business because of its impressive academic and faculty growth, student-centric curriculum, and numerous centers of excellence spanning various business functions.”
