The Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj marks a grand spiritual gathering after 12 years, expecting over 45 million devotees. Participants will gather at the Sangam—the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers—to take a holy dip, believed to absolve sins and grant liberation. The event concludes on February 26.
The Adani Group and ISKCON have partnered to provide Mahaprasad Seva, distributing free meals to 5 million devotees. Meals will be prepared in two kitchens and served across 40 distribution points, with support from 2,500 volunteers. Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, emphasized the spiritual significance of the initiative, calling seva the highest form of patriotism and prayer. Additionally, golf carts have been arranged for the elderly, differently abled, and mothers with children, while 500,000 copies of Geeta Saar will be distributed.
A cultural extravaganza, featuring renowned artists such as Shankar Mahadevan, Mohit Chauhan, Shaan, Kailash Kher, and others, will take place from January 16 to February 24. Performances aim to create a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has reviewed the event’s preparations, including visits to akharas and the Sangam area via the ‘Nishadraj’ cruise.
To ensure safety, the Uttar Pradesh government has implemented a 7-layer security system involving 2,700 AI-enabled cameras and the coordination of state and central agencies. The administration has deployed 125 ambulances, including 15 advanced life support vehicles, along with air and river ambulances. Inspector General Tarun Gaba assured that all measures are in place to ensure a secure and orderly celebration of the world’s largest human gathering.
