Kush Desai, an experienced communications professional, has been appointed as the deputy press secretary by President Donald Trump, the White House confirmed this week. Desai, an Indian American, will work under the White House Office of Communications, which falls under the purview of Deputy White House Chief of Staff and Cabinet Secretary, Taylor Budowich.
Currently serving as the Deputy Battleground States and Pennsylvania Communications Director at the Republican National Committee (RNC), Desai has been in this role since last year. According to his LinkedIn profile, Desai has held various significant positions within the Republican Party, including deputy communications director for the 2024 Republican National Convention and communications director for the Republican Party of Iowa.
Desai began his career as a reporter at The Daily Caller between July 2017 and March 2018. Later, in April 2018, he transitioned to the RNC, starting as a research analyst. His career trajectory quickly advanced, with Desai being named Director of Vetting within a year. By 2021, he had ascended to the role of Iowa communications director, eventually becoming communications director for the Republican Party of Iowa in December 2022.
