Renowned Indian filmmaker Karan Johar is set to receive a prestigious honor at the British Parliament on Tuesday, 20th June 2023. The ceremony will take place at the Palace of Westminster, which serves as the meeting place for both the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
Johar’s work has a deep connection with the United Kingdom, as he has filmed several movies there, including the popular titles “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” “Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham,” and “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.” These films have resonated with audiences and have played a significant role in establishing Johar’s global reputation.
In 2012, Johar was appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for Visit Britain, a campaign aimed at promoting tourism in the UK. His films, such as “Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham” and “My Name Is Khan,” achieved tremendous success at the UK Box Office, becoming the highest-grossing Indian films upon their release.
As the head of Dharma Productions, a leading film production studio in India, Johar has been instrumental in producing blockbuster movies like “Brahmastra Part One: Shiva,” “Sooryavanshi,” “Baahubali,” “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani,” and “Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.”
To commemorate Johar’s 25th anniversary in the entertainment industry, his upcoming film “Rocky aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani” will be released. Starring British India-born actress Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, the romantic flick will also feature esteemed actors Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, and Jaya Bachchan in prominent roles. “Rocky aur Rani” has been filmed in Mumbai, Moscow, and Delhi, and is expected to captivate audiences with the magic of Karan Johar once again.
This celebration of Johar’s contributions to the global entertainment industry will not only honor his past achievements but also create anticipation for his latest cinematic offering, set to release in UK cinemas and worldwide on 28th July 2023.
