According to recent national polls reported by Bloomberg, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris is leading her opponent, former President Donald Trump, in the upcoming presidential race. The NBC News poll, which surveyed 1,000 registered voters, shows Harris at 49% compared to Trump’s 44%, although this lead is within the margin of error. Similarly, a CBS/Ipsos poll conducted with over 3,000 registered voters shows Harris leading Trump 52% to 48%.
These poll results come at a pivotal moment, as early voting has already commenced in various states ahead of the November 2024 elections. Notably, Harris’s favorability has surged since she officially became the Democratic nominee in July, increasing from 32% to 48%—the most significant rise for any candidate since former President George W. Bush post-9/11.
As early voting begins in states like Minnesota and Virginia, many voters are taking advantage of the opportunity to cast their ballots ahead of Election Day. While some states require a valid excuse for early voting, most do not.
With both candidates focusing heavily on swing states, the competition is expected to be fierce. In particular, the CBS poll highlights a narrowing gap between Trump and Harris on economic issues, indicating a competitive landscape in the lead-up to the elections.
