Arizona State University (ASU) has appointed Dr. Jyotishman Pathak as the inaugural dean of its newly established School of Technology for Public Health, effective July 1. This groundbreaking school, the first of its kind in the nation, will integrate technology with public health to address critical global challenges.
Dr. Pathak, an internationally recognized leader in biomedical informatics and population health sciences, will spearhead the development of the school and guide its efforts in training a tech-savvy public health workforce. The school will welcome its first cohort of students in the Master of Public Health and Master of Public Health Technology programs in fall 2025.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the role, Dr. Pathak stated, “I am honored to lead ASU’s School of Technology for Public Health. ASU’s culture of innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration is key to tackling urgent public health issues such as maternal and child health, mental and environmental health, infectious diseases, and health communication. I look forward to partnering with faculty, students, and the community to advance public health infrastructure and education for the 21st century.”
ASU’s Executive Vice President and University Provost, Nancy Gonzales, praised Dr. Pathak as an ideal leader, highlighting his extensive research in medical informatics, AI-driven health solutions, and behavioral health.
Dr. Pathak currently serves as the Frances & John L. Loeb Professor of Medical Informatics at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York, where he is also the Chief of the Division of Health Informatics and Vice Chair for Entrepreneurship in the Department of Population Health Sciences.
