During Prime Minister Modi’s two-day visit to Srinagar for International Yoga Day celebrations, Srinagar has been designated as a ‘temporary red zone’ by local police, as reported by news agency ANI. This designation under the Drone Rules, 2021, mandates permissions for the use of drones and quadcopters in the area.
This marks PM Modi’s first visit to Jammu and Kashmir since the commencement of his third term in office. The preparations for the International Yoga Day event, scheduled at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre, are underway, according to officials quoted by PTI.
Leading up to the event, PM Modi’s social media accounts have been promoting various yoga asanas and highlighting the health benefits of yoga practice. Previous International Yoga Day events have been hosted by Modi in cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, Jabalpur, Dehradun, and even at the United Nations.
The theme for this year’s International Yoga Day, as announced by AYUSH Minister Prataprao Jadhav, is ‘Yoga for Self and Society,’ emphasizing yoga’s role in personal and societal development. In a recent communication to gram panchayats, PM Modi reiterated the significance of yoga in fostering individual and national well-being, underscoring its global impact and transformative influence.
