External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held wide-ranging discussions with Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, focusing on advancing cooperation across economic, technology, defence, mining, and people-to-people domains, while also exchanging views on key regional and global developments.
The talks reflected the growing maturity of India–Poland relations, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the Strategic Partnership. Jaishankar described the engagement as an opportunity for open and candid dialogue, highlighting the importance of deeper collaboration in multilateral forums and closer coordination in support of stronger India–European Union ties.
Addressing security concerns, Jaishankar underlined India’s long-standing position on counter-terrorism, calling for zero tolerance toward terrorism and urging that no support be extended to terrorist infrastructure in India’s neighbourhood. He noted that Poland’s familiarity with regional challenges made such discussions both relevant and necessary.
The External Affairs Minister also reiterated India’s perspective on the conflict in Ukraine, emphasising that selective criticism or targeting of New Delhi is unfair and unjustified. He stressed the value of exchanging assessments between nations located in different regions, each facing distinct geopolitical challenges and opportunities, particularly at a time of significant global uncertainty.
Jaishankar highlighted that India and Poland have traditionally enjoyed warm and friendly relations, marked by increasing political engagement, expanding economic ties, and vibrant people-to-people exchanges. He noted that while bilateral relations have progressed steadily, they require constant nurturing to realise their full potential.
The relationship received a major boost with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Poland, during which bilateral ties were elevated to the level of a Strategic Partnership. Since then, both sides have sought to deepen cooperation in areas such as defence, innovation, mining, and connectivity.
Polish Deputy Prime Minister Sikorski’s visit to India is seen as part of continued efforts to further energise the India–Poland Strategic Partnership, reinforcing shared interests in security, economic resilience, and a rules-based international order.
