External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar interacted with members of the Indian diaspora in Luxembourg, appreciating their role in strengthening bilateral ties between India and the European nation. He lauded the community for being well integrated and making valuable contributions to Luxembourg’s society and economy.
Addressing the gathering, Jaishankar said that during his meetings with Luxembourg’s leadership, including the Grand Duke, Prime Minister, and Foreign Minister, he consistently heard strong praise for the Indian community. He noted that such recognition reflects the trust and goodwill Indians have earned through their work and conduct.
The External Affairs Minister highlighted the expanding India-Luxembourg partnership across political, business, technology, and financial sectors. He emphasised that Luxembourg’s position as a founding member of the European Union gives it significant influence within the bloc, making its support important for India’s broader engagement with Europe.
Jaishankar underlined that India is in an advanced stage of negotiations on a free trade agreement with the European Union and is deepening cooperation in areas such as technology, defence, connectivity, and mobility. He expressed confidence that Luxembourg’s goodwill and support would positively influence India-EU relations.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to overseas Indians, Jaishankar said the diaspora plays a vital role in building bridges between nations and enhancing India’s global standing. He encouraged the community to continue acting as ambassadors of Indian values while contributing to stronger international partnerships.
