External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar visited a cultural exhibition in Paris titled “Ce qui se trame – woven stories between India and France,” which brought India’s rich textile traditions, craftsmanship, and creative legacy into focus. The exhibition highlighted the deep-rooted cultural exchange between India and France, reflecting centuries of artistic dialogue and mutual appreciation.
Sharing his experience on social media, Jaishankar noted that the showcase celebrated India’s textile expertise and creative spirit while serving as a reminder of the enduring cultural bond shared by the two nations. The visit took place during his official tour of France and Luxembourg from January 4 to January 9.
While in France, the External Affairs Minister is scheduled to meet senior French leadership, including Foreign Affairs Minister Jean Noel Barrot. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, discussions will center on the progress achieved under the India–France Strategic Partnership and key global developments. Jaishankar will also address the 31st French Ambassador’s Conference as the Guest of Honor, reflecting the importance France places on its relationship with India.
The diplomatic engagement extends to Luxembourg, where Jaishankar will hold talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel, along with other senior officials. His visit will also include interactions with members of the Indian diaspora, underscoring India’s emphasis on engaging overseas communities as part of its foreign policy outreach.
India–France relations have seen sustained momentum at the highest political level. In November last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met French President Emmanuel Macron during the G20 Summit in South Africa. The two leaders also held multiple phone conversations in recent months, exchanging perspectives on global security challenges, including the conflict in Ukraine. India has consistently reiterated its support for dialogue-driven solutions and the early restoration of peace and stability in the region.
Over the past year, both countries have reviewed and positively assessed cooperation across diverse sectors such as economic engagement, defense collaboration, science, technology, and space exploration. They have reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening strategic ties under frameworks including the Horizon 2047 Roadmap, the Indo-Pacific Roadmap, and the Defense Industrial Roadmap, positioning the partnership for long-term global impact.
