Baby John, an action thriller starring Varun Dhawan, hit theaters on December 25, 2024. The film had a strong opening, earning $1.35 million on its first day. However, its box office performance experienced a notable decline on the second day, with earnings dropping to approximately $470,000. Directed by Kalees, the film also stars Keerthy Suresh and Kajal Aggarwal in key roles.
The movie revolves around DCP Satya Verma, played by Varun Dhawan, who fakes his death to protect his daughter after a confrontation with the ruthless gangster Babbar Sher, portrayed by Jackie Shroff. Following the death of Babbar’s son at Satya’s hands, Babbar seeks revenge. Satya adopts the identity of “Baby John” and tries to lead a peaceful life in Kerala, but when Babbar discovers that Satya is alive, the danger resurfaces. Satya is forced to confront his past and once again protect his daughter.
Jackie Shroff’s portrayal of Babbar Sher has created a significant buzz, particularly due to his chilling first look, featuring long grey hair, vintage rings, and a rugged face marked with cuts and bruises, enhancing his role as the antagonist.
On the professional front, Jackie Shroff will soon be seen in Baap, an action drama directed by Vivek Chauhan, and the ensemble comedy Housefull 5, directed by Tarun Mansukhani. Housefull 5, which features Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan, has completed filming and is set for release on June 6, 2025.
