The Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, set to begin on January 13 and conclude on February 26, is drawing devotees and spiritual seekers from across the globe. Among them is Angela, an Italian devotee who embraced Hinduism 30 years ago. Now known as Anjana Giri, a member of Atal Akhada, she reflects her devotion through her spiritual practices and advocacy for Sanatan Dharma. Currently, she is weaving a special bag for her Guruji, which will be used during the grand Maha Kumbh Mela.
“The ancient culture of India is the best. This philosophy of living says that you are God, and God is within you,” Anjana shared. She also extended an invitation for people worldwide to experience the Maha Kumbh Mela, describing it as a “meeting of love and energy.”
Her devotion to Indian culture is evident in her personal life. She named her son Mahesh, inspired by Lord Shiva, symbolizing her spiritual journey.
The Kumbh Mela also attracts international practitioners of Kriya Yoga. Swami Bhavanand, a Brazilian trainer at the Kriyayoga Ashram and Research Institute, recalled his first visit to India during the 2007 Ardha Kumbh Mela. He emphasized that Kriya Yoga is a unifying science of spirituality, allowing individuals to experience the divine presence in their hearts.
The Maha Kumbh, held every 12 years, will feature the sacred Shahi Snan (royal baths) on January 14 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), and February 3 (Basant Panchami), drawing millions of pilgrims to the Ganga’s holy waters.
