Ahead of Donald Trump’s inauguration as the 47th President of the United States, the Indian diaspora organisation, Indiaspora, extended its congratulations, celebrating the growing political engagement and influence of Indian Americans in the US. The organisation highlighted key Indian-American appointments in the Trump administration, including Harmeet Kaur Dhillon as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, Vivek Ramaswamy as head of the Department of Government Efficiency, Kash Patel as FBI Director nominee, Dr. Jay Bhattacharya as Director of the National Institutes of Health, and Sriram Krishnan as Senior AI Advisor.
Founder and Chairman of Indiaspora, MR Rangaswami, expressed optimism for strengthened US-India relations under Trump’s leadership. He noted the bipartisan support in the US for fostering ties with India and praised the continuation of appointing Indian Americans to senior government roles.
Executive Director Sanjeev Joshipura emphasised Indiaspora’s commitment to enhancing civic and political engagement within the Indian diaspora while maintaining a nonpartisan approach. He also acknowledged the organisation’s role in catalysing dialogues that strengthen US-India relations.
Donald Trump, previously the 45th President (2017-2021), will be sworn in as the 47th President at the US Capitol in Washington, D.C., signalling a renewed chapter for Indian-American participation in governance and bilateral cooperation between the US and India.
