Three Indian American women have been recognized for their achievements with the 2024 Power of Women Awards from Global Silicon Valley (GSV), a venture capital firm focusing on multiple stages of investment. The accolade celebrates influential female leaders committed to creating a future with equitable access to education.
Anupama Vaid, Shalinee Sharma, and Bijal Shah are part of the 14 distinguished honorees this year. These women, including CEOs, presidents, and founders, are reshaping education to ensure everyone, from early childhood to adulthood, has equal opportunities for learning.
Anupama Vaid, the president and founder of ParentSquare, conceived the idea for her platform during a sabbatical in 2010, recognizing the necessity for improved communication between schools and families. She expressed gratitude for the award, acknowledging the support and mentorship she received throughout her journey.
Shalinee Sharma, CEO and co-founder of Zearn, established Zearn Math in 2012 to enhance elementary students’ comprehension of mathematical concepts. A Harvard Business School and Brown University alumna, Sharma also engages in various educational initiatives, including serving on the Braven Board of Directors.
Bijal Shah, interim CEO of Guild, oversees the company’s efforts in providing education, learning programs, and career support for working adults. Her leadership extends to collaborating with major employers like Walmart and Chipotle to enhance workforce opportunities.
The recipients will be honored at the ASU+GSV Summit 2024 in San Diego from April 14-17. The award acknowledges their transformative contributions to education and workforce development.
