The Oscar-winning song Nacho Nacho from the RRR sensation has now been repurposed for a new cause – Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign. An Indian-American entrepreneur and Democratic fundraiser is leveraging this hit to create a music video designed to encourage South Asian voters to support Harris in key battleground states ahead of the fast-approaching U.S. election.
Ajay Bhutoria, a prominent figure on Kamala Harris’s National Finance Committee, revamped the song alongside his creative team. The video, running just 1.5 minutes, opens with the catchy “Hamari Ye Kamala Harris” (Our Kamala Harris), a fusion of campaign messages and infectious tunes. Produced by Ritesh Parikh and featuring vocals by Shibani Kashyap, the video includes contributions in multiple languages like Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Punjabi, and Hindi, aiming to unite the Indian diaspora in the election season.
This Bollywood-inspired campaign seeks to rally around 5 million South Asian voters in vital states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona. Bhutoria highlights Harris as a beacon for Indian-Americans, a leader who stands for unity in contrast to the divisive politics associated with Donald Trump.
As election momentum grows, Bhutoria teased the release of more Bollywood-inspired songs, including one supporting Harris’s running mate, Tim Walz. This musical push, combined with the upcoming Harris-Trump debate, could inject fresh energy into Harris’s campaign and potentially shape the outcome of a fiercely contested race.
