The University of SiliconAndhra, a groundbreaking institution in the United States led by Indian Americans, is set for expansion with a new campus. Known for offering courses in Indian dances, languages, and cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, it aims to integrate a medical college and an international-standard cricket stadium into its facilities. Currently holding accreditation from the WASC Senior College and University Commission, a recognized US Department of Education accrediting agency, the university has its main campus in Milpitas, California.
President Anand Kuchibhotla highlighted the institution’s evolution, initially attracting students solely from the United States but now boasting a diverse international student body from India, Malaysia, South Africa, and Dubai. The university currently offers six Master of Arts programs, five diplomas, and five certificate programs, with a significant increase in enrollment since its inception in 2017.
Anticipating further growth and development, Kuchibhotla announced plans to introduce new courses, including a Master of Science in Computer Science with concentrations in Computational Linguistics, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing. Additionally, the university is exploring the launch of an MD program in allopathic medicine. Notably, the institution is planning a Raga therapy program in Indian classical music, delving into clinical trials to establish evidence-based practices.
A philanthropist’s generous donation of 67 acres in Silicon Valley marks a pivotal step in the university’s expansion. The Bhoomi Puja ceremony has already taken place, signifying the beginning of construction for a world-class campus that aims to embody the essence of India. Kuchibhotla emphasized the uniqueness of the upcoming campus, featuring a medical college and a cricket stadium—the first of its kind in the United States.
The University of SiliconAndhra has furthered its global outreach by signing memoranda of understanding with approximately a dozen universities in India. Emphasizing real-world industry experience, Kuchibhotla highlighted a distinctive program designed to provide students with practical exposure.
Despite the ambitious expansion plans and enhanced offerings, Kuchibhotla noted that the tuition fees for an MS course are competitively low at approximately USD 27,000, making it one of the most affordable options in the United States.
