Indian-American Dr. Rekha Bhandari, a well-known general physician based in New York, is among five individuals of Indian descent to receive the Association of Indians in America (AIA) award.
The New York chapter of the AIA, one of the oldest national associations of Indian origin people in the US, honored Dr. Bhandari with the “Excellence in Healthcare Administration” award.
Dr. Bhandari expressed her gratitude upon receiving the award, stating, “AIA is one of the oldest organizations representing the Indian American community. Many past recipients have been Nobel laureates, and I am deeply honored and humbled to accept this award.”
The award ceremony was a significant event, attracting attendees from the New York tri-state area, upstate New York, and neighboring states. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer was the special guest of honor at the ceremony.
Dr. Rekha Bhandari serves as the Chief Medical Officer of MedElite Group and is a healthcare innovator and founder of ‘Infinite Medical Group’ and ‘ReNew Wound Care.’
Additionally, she received the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2016, awarded by the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations (NECO). The Ellis Island Medal of Honor was established in 1986 at the inception of NECO.
