Indian American geospatial professional Siddharth “Sid” Pandey has been selected to serve on the board of directors for the Graduates of Earth and Mineral Sciences (GEMS) at Penn State University’s College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. His three-year appointment places him among a 16-member leadership group that includes 15 board members and the immediate past president. Together, the board plays a central role in guiding the GEMS Alumni Society, shaping opportunities, and fostering engagement across Penn State’s expansive alumni network.
Pandey joins the board alongside fellow new appointee Quentin Lawson-Parchment, an office engineer at Promatech Inc., according to the university announcement. Pandey’s connection to Penn State dates back to 2014, when he completed his bachelor’s degree in geography. He later pursued advanced studies, earning a Master of Professional Studies in geographic information systems (GIS) from the University of Maryland, further sharpening his expertise in a field driven by data, analytics, and spatial intelligence.
With more than a decade of experience, Pandey currently serves as a manager in the location intelligence practice at Deloitte & Touche LLP. His work centers on helping businesses and institutions leverage geospatial data to inform decisions, innovate processes, and strengthen operational strategy. Beyond his corporate role, Pandey continues to be deeply involved in the broader geospatial community. He is a member of the board of directors for the Geospatial Professional Network (GPN) and previously completed a three-year term on the organization’s Vanguard Cabinet.
His career achievements have earned him consistent recognition. In 2018, he was featured in xyHt magazine’s “40 Under 40” list spotlighting exceptional young professionals. He went on to be named one of Geospatial World’s “50 Rising Stars” in 2021 and later appeared in xyHt magazine’s “22 Young Geospatial Professionals to Watch in 2022.” His contributions were further honored with GPN’s Young Professional of the Year award in 2022 and the GPN Leadership Award in 2023.
Reflecting on his appointment, Pandey expressed gratitude and enthusiasm, noting that the opportunity aligns with his mission to uplift the geospatial sector and mentor emerging talent. He emphasized that serving on the GEMS board allows him to give back to the university that shaped his early career while helping cultivate the next generation of Earth and mineral sciences professionals.
