Celebrating the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, Indian-American DJ-producer KSHMR and rapper-producer Raftaar have joined hands for their inaugural collaboration titled ‘Legacy,’ which forms the third track within KSHMR’s eagerly anticipated Indian hip-hop album ‘Karam.’
In ‘Legacy,’ Raftaar brilliantly showcases his lyrical prowess, emphasizing the significance of leaving behind a lasting legacy. He raps about the art of skillfully constructing one’s legacy for the empowerment and inspiration of future generations.
KSHMR, discussing the partnership, stated, “Raftaar was my first choice among Indian rappers. We held virtual discussions where I explained the concept of my upcoming album ‘KARAM,’ how each track contributes to the storyline. We decided that our song would conclude the album, reflecting the main character’s demise, a role I knew Dilin could excel in with his lyrical intensity.”
He further remarked, “I was genuinely astounded by his outstanding production abilities. While crafting the beat, he contributed significantly to its production, introducing his unique elements using Ableton. We collaborated in a Mumbai studio for the final vocal recording, and it was a privilege to experience his iconic voice firsthand.”
Conversely, Raftaar underscored the profound importance of the term ‘legacy’ in the realm of hip-hop. He conveyed, “Collaborating with KSHMR on this track has been a rewarding journey. During its inception, I reflected on the enduring legacy I aim to create—one that serves as inspiration for countless artists in the times ahead.”
He went on to say, “‘Legacy’ often doesn’t receive the recognition it deserves today, and this song serves as a sincere reminder that unwavering dedication isn’t solely about personal fame or wealth. It’s about building something much grander than oneself—a legacy that enriches the entire community.”
