The Indian American community in New York gathered to bid farewell to Dr. Varun Jeph, India’s outgoing Deputy Consul General, in a heartfelt reception hosted by community leaders Harish Thakkar and Ajay Patel. The event brought together members of the diaspora to celebrate Dr. Jeph’s impactful tenure and his efforts to strengthen bilateral ties.
Harish Thakkar, former President of AIA NY and a respected community leader, commended Dr. Jeph for his proactive leadership, emphasizing the efficiency and dedication of the Indian Consulate under his guidance. His sentiments were echoed by Ajay Patel, who extended a warm welcome to the departing diplomat.
Dr. Jeph, reflecting on his time in New York, expressed gratitude for the strong connections he built with the Indian American community and the support he received in advancing mutual cooperation between India and the United States.
Keynote speaker Prem Bhandri underscored the importance of unity among Indian organizations, stressing that collaboration fosters inclusivity, mutual respect, and resilience. He highlighted how a united community strengthens social harmony while promoting cultural exchange, peace, and prosperity.
The farewell reception was supported by several diaspora organizations, including AAPI, AIA NY Chapter, American Punjabi Society (APS), Bruhud New York Seniors, Gujarati Samaj, International Ahimsa Foundation, Jaipur Foot USA, Rajasthan Medical Alumni Association, RANA – Rajasthan Association of North America, and Riviera. Their collective participation showcased the deep respect and appreciation for Dr. Jeph’s contributions.
As a token of gratitude, Dr. Varun Jeph was honored with a commemorative plaque recognizing his distinguished service to the Indian diaspora. The award was presented by Harish Thakkar and Ajay Patel, while Heeta Thakkar and Davika Patel gracefully emceed the event.
