India and the United States strengthened their strategic partnership as Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri held high-level meetings in Washington, including a key interaction with FBI Director Kash Patel. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in security, defence, and emerging strategic domains.
During his visit, Misri also met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. The talks covered a broad range of issues, including trade, critical minerals, defence collaboration, and regional security.
A major highlight of the visit was Misriās meeting with Kash Patel, where both sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in counter-terrorism, organised crime, and narcotics control. The engagement reflects the growing convergence between India and the US on internal security and law enforcement coordination.
Misri also held discussions with senior US officials, including Christopher Landau, reviewing bilateral priorities and exchanging perspectives on global and regional developments. The conversations included a strong focus on geopolitical issues, particularly evolving developments in West Asia.
Further engagements included talks with Allison Hooker and Jose Fernandez, where both sides assessed progress in economic and technology cooperation. Areas such as artificial intelligence, critical minerals, and secure supply chains were highlighted as key pillars of future collaboration.
In addition to official meetings, Misri interacted with members of the strategic and policy community in Washington, discussing the evolving trajectory of India-US relations and opportunities in a rapidly changing global landscape.
The series of engagements underscores the expanding scope of India-US cooperation, moving beyond traditional defence ties to include technology, economic security, and global governance. As both nations navigate complex geopolitical challenges, sustained high-level dialogue continues to play a crucial role in strengthening their partnership.
