Indian Air Force Chief, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, has arrived in the United States to enhance defence cooperation and further strengthen the strategic military partnership between India and the US. Upon his arrival, Singh was warmly received by India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, who highlighted the significance of the visit for sustaining growing ties between the two air forces.
The visit follows the earlier trip by Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command, who toured India from February 14 to 19 to deepen collaboration on shared security interests. During his visit, Admiral Paparo engaged with senior Indian defence officials, including General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff, and Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff. Discussions focused on areas of mutual interest, particularly India’s role in ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
Admiral Paparo’s itinerary included key sites in New Delhi, Chandimandir, and Bengaluru. In New Delhi, the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies hosted an alumni event, gathering Indian graduates of APCSS programs. The event facilitated exchange of ideas, professional networking, and collaborative approaches to regional security challenges.
In Chandimandir, he visited India’s Western Command alongside US Ambassador Sergio Gor, reviewing operational security dynamics along India’s western and northern borders. The final leg of his trip in Bengaluru included visits to the Aeronautical Development Agency and the National Flight Test Center, emphasizing the growing defence industrial cooperation and advances in aerospace innovation between the two countries.
Air Chief Marshal Singh’s visit is expected to build on these initiatives, promoting interoperability across land, air, sea, space, and cyberspace domains while strengthening India-US defence ties, fostering regional security, and supporting mutual strategic goals valued in millions of dollars.
