India is committed to strengthening its business environment, ensuring regulatory stability, and enhancing the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB), Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal stated at the Pune International Business Summit 2025. Organized by the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture (MCCIA), the event brought together representatives from over 20 nations to discuss trade trends, establish partnerships, and highlight the importance of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in shaping a developed India.
Goyal emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visits to the United States and France have opened new investment opportunities and deepened international collaborations. He underscored the government’s dedication to fostering entrepreneurship, citing the latest Union Budget, which introduces a $1.14 billion Fund of Funds aimed at empowering startups and a Deep Tech Fund to drive technological advancements.
Furthering innovation, the government has also allocated $2.29 billion for the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), focusing on research and development. This initiative will be supported by a high-level advisory board, an investment-friendly index, and Jan Vishwas 2.0, a framework designed to promote governance based on trust.
Acknowledging Pune’s role as an industrial powerhouse, Goyal referred to the city as the “Detroit of the East” due to its leadership in innovation and manufacturing. He also praised MCCIA for its 90-year legacy in fostering entrepreneurship and driving Maharashtra’s economic growth. The summit served as a platform to reinforce India’s pro-business policies, global investment strategies, and commitment to positioning the nation as a competitive player in the global economy.
