President Droupadi Murmu, during her official visit to Slovakia, participated in the Slovakia-India Business Forum in Bratislava, where she underlined India’s strong intention to deepen its economic partnership with Slovakia. Addressing an audience of business leaders and dignitaries, she emphasized that the forum is a valuable platform to identify shared opportunities and establish profitable collaborations.
Murmu noted that her visit included a large and diverse business delegation from India, indicating the eagerness of Indian enterprises to explore Slovakia’s growing potential. Highlighting the strength of bilateral relations, she pointed to the automotive sector as a standout area of cooperation—citing Jaguar Land Rover’s advanced $1.6 billion facility in Nitra, operational since 2018, as a prime example of cross-border investment success.
She appreciated Slovakia’s strategic location in Europe and industrial capabilities, stating that it presents vast potential for increased trade. India’s consumer market, skilled labor force, and booming startup ecosystem were seen as key attractions for Slovak firms. Murmu conveyed her belief in the significant contributions Indian professionals can make to Slovakia’s workforce, especially as the country looks to attract global talent. She noted that while bilateral trade exceeded $1.3 billion in 2024, there remains ample room for further growth.
Beyond economics, President Murmu celebrated the blossoming cultural connection between the two countries. She attended a heartwarming puppet show based on the Ramayana and visited a painting exhibition featuring works by Slovak schoolchildren inspired by Indian themes. A banquet in her honor at the historic Bratislava Castle further strengthened cultural diplomacy, with performances of Slovak artists and the national anthem.
President Murmu also met with Prime Minister Robert Fico and President Peter Pellegrini, discussing key areas of cooperation. She praised the growing mutual respect rooted in democratic values and shared global outlooks. The leaders witnessed the signing of two important MoUs—one focusing on collaboration between small businesses and another on diplomatic training cooperation.
Murmu encouraged Slovak participation in India’s upcoming WAVE Summit in Mumbai and proposed deeper collaboration in media, entertainment, and creative industries, promoting Slovakia as a potential film destination. Her visit reinforced the message that both nations are poised to take their partnership to greater heights.
