The Government of India has formalized Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and cooperation agreements with 23 countries to advance the adoption and exchange of India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), developed under the India Stack initiative. These agreements focus on areas such as digital identity, payments, data exchange, and service delivery platforms, aiming to strengthen global collaboration in digital governance.
India’s flagship digital payment system, the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), has been successfully adopted in over eight countries, including the UAE, Singapore, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, France, Mauritius, and Qatar. This expansion has boosted cross-border remittances, enhanced financial inclusion, and positioned India as a global leader in the fintech sector. Additionally, India has signed MoUs for its digital document storage platform, DigiLocker, with countries such as Cuba, Kenya, the UAE, and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, further broadening the international reach of its digital services.
Through initiatives like India Stack Global, which offers access to 18 major digital platforms, and the Global DPI Repository launched during India’s 2023 G20 Presidency, India is providing its digital solutions to the global community. These platforms encompass a wide range of services, including Aadhaar for biometric identity verification, CoWIN for health management, API Setu for seamless integration, UMANG for unified government services, GeM for e-commerce procurement, e-Office for digital administration, e-Hospital for healthcare management, e-Sanjeevani for telemedicine, POSHAN Tracker for nutrition monitoring, Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), Public Financial Management System (PFMS), and PM GatiShakti for infrastructure planning.
The countries engaging with India’s DPI solutions span several continents, including Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, and South America, highlighting the growing global acceptance of India’s digital platforms. By sharing its digital public goods and infrastructure worldwide, India is establishing itself as a hub for innovative digital governance and enabling international partners to strengthen their own digital ecosystems. These agreements reinforce India’s commitment to global collaboration in fintech, e-governance, and public service delivery through cutting-edge technology.
