India made a remarkable impact at Gulfood 2026, the world’s largest annual food and beverage trade event, taking the spotlight as the Country Partner with the most extensive global representation. With over 600 Indian exhibitors and the largest exhibition space of any country, India highlighted its leadership in the agri-food and processed food sector. Key offerings included Basmati rice, more than a dozen GI-tagged rice varieties, millets, tea, spices, turmeric, processed foods, organic products, and fresh produce, reflecting the diversity and quality of Indian agriculture. The Indian Pavilion at Dubai Expo City was inaugurated by senior officials, underscoring the country’s agri-food capabilities and the strategic importance of the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in boosting bilateral food exports.
The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) designed a sprawling pavilion of nearly 1,500 square meters, divided into sections such as Pulses, Cereals & Grains, Beverages, and Gulfood Green. The exhibition featured participation from government organizations, including the Tea Board, Spices Board, and Turmeric Board, along with state governments and cooperatives. Eight innovative startups participated under the APEDA BHARATI scheme (Bharat’s Hub for Agritech, Resilience, Advancement and Incubation), emphasizing India’s drive toward agri-tech solutions for export facilitation.
A standout feature was the Indian culinary section, managed by celebrity chef Harpal Singh Sokhi, which showcased meals prepared from GI-tagged rice varieties, further highlighting India’s culinary heritage. India’s role as the Country Partner at Gulfood is expected to strengthen business-to-business interactions, enhance trade ties, and reinforce India’s reputation as a reliable global food partner.
By presenting its rich agricultural diversity and innovative food solutions on a global platform, India aligns with the government’s vision of becoming the “food basket of the world”, promoting sustainable growth, international trade, and economic development. The event served as a testament to India’s growing influence in global food exports and its commitment to innovation, quality, and international collaboration.
