India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ruchira Kamboj, reaffirmed the country’s longstanding relationship and support for a two-state solution on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. Addressing the UN General Assembly, Kamboj emphasized India’s zero-tolerance approach to terrorism and the universal obligation to uphold international humanitarian law.
She condemned civilian deaths, labeling them unacceptable, and called for responsible actions from all parties in addressing the humanitarian crisis. Kamboj advocated for collective international efforts to de-escalate tensions and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestine. Welcoming humanitarian pauses, she disclosed India’s contribution of 70 tonnes of goods, including medicines, and criticized the terror attacks in Israel on October 7, expressing unequivocal condemnation.
Expressing concern for hostages in Gaza, Kamboj called for their immediate and unconditional release. She highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s engagement with regional leaders, emphasizing the importance of preventing escalation and restoring peace and stability.
India reiterated support for a negotiated two-state solution, promoting the establishment of a sovereign, independent, and viable state of Palestine alongside Israel. Kamboj stressed India’s commitment to bilateral development partnerships covering various sectors and ongoing humanitarian assistance for the Palestinian people. Concluding, she affirmed India’s dedication to a just, peaceful, and lasting solution to the Israel-Palestine issue, advocating for a two-state solution achieved through direct negotiations and offering enduring peace for both nations.
