India and the Philippines have taken a major step toward strengthening ties in the fields of space and electronics with the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement, finalized between the Satcom Industry Association-India (SIA-India) and the Electronic Industry Association of the Philippines Inc (EIAPI), focuses on boosting collaboration in satellite communication, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, embedded systems, and advanced space electronics.
The partnership seeks to create a strong platform for joint research, co-development, and innovation. By enabling industry-to-industry cooperation, both nations are aiming to expand manufacturing capabilities, develop critical technologies, and enhance supply chain integration across their respective industries. This effort coincides with the celebration of 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, highlighting the deepening strategic cooperation in technology and innovation.
Mr. Subba Rao Pavuluri, President of SIA-India, emphasized that the MoU is designed to generate real-world outcomes through collaborative projects, technology development, and skill-building initiatives. He added that this initiative is expected to not only strengthen the space and electronics ecosystems of India and the Philippines but also contribute to shaping the broader Indo-Pacific technology landscape.
The collaboration presents the Philippines with an opportunity to play a larger role in space technology advancements. Through this agreement, Filipino industries can partner with India to develop satellite payload components, ground-based infrastructure technologies, and high-value electronic systems. This integration into India’s fast-growing electronics ecosystem, currently valued at more than $115 billion, is anticipated to unlock fresh opportunities for manufacturing and innovation.
For India, the partnership reinforces its position as a hub for electronics and space technology while promoting shared growth with regional allies. For the Philippines, it offers access to expertise, infrastructure, and industry momentum that can accelerate its role in the global technology network.
The India-Philippines collaboration marks a forward-looking alliance that blends research, innovation, and production. By fostering joint advancements in critical technologies, the two nations are set to strengthen their industries while contributing to the future of the Indo-Pacific technology ecosystem.
