India and Kenya held discussions to strengthen cooperation in the healthcare sector, with a focus on pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, medical devices, and capacity building. Indian High Commissioner to Kenya Adarsh Swaika met Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Health Aden Duale to review ongoing collaboration and identify areas for deeper engagement.
The Indian High Commission described India as a trusted and long-standing partner of Kenya, noting that Indian pharmaceutical products hold a significant share of the Kenyan market due to their quality and affordability. India also remains a preferred destination for thousands of Kenyans seeking medical treatment each year, underscoring strong confidence in Indian healthcare expertise and advanced facilities.
The meeting highlighted shared commitments to improving accessible and affordable healthcare and expanding partnership in critical health-related industries.
In a separate engagement, the Indian envoy met Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, William Kabogo, to discuss accelerating cooperation in ICT, emerging technologies, digital skilling, and innovation. Both sides reviewed progress on ongoing projects and explored new opportunities for collaboration between startups and the technology ecosystems of the two countries.
The discussions acknowledged the recent Kenyan delegation visit to India, led by Mercy Wanjau, to advance Digital Public Infrastructure cooperation. Kabogo emphasised the importance of strengthening the India–Kenya strategic partnership to support the digital transformation initiatives of both nations and enhance their positions as regional technology leaders.
He noted the need to revitalise the national broadcaster NBC and develop stronger ICT infrastructure, stressing that emerging technologies would play a crucial role in boosting socio-economic growth and improving public digital services.
India and Kenya reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation across healthcare, digital innovation, and emerging technology domains, reflecting the expanding scope of their strategic partnership.
