Amid mounting regional tensions, the Embassy of India in Qatar has issued a public advisory, urging Indian nationals in the country to remain vigilant and indoors following Iran’s recent missile attacks on US military sites located in Qatar and Iraq.
In an official statement shared via X (formerly Twitter), the embassy asked the Indian diaspora to stay calm and adhere strictly to local news updates and directions issued by Qatari authorities. “In view of the ongoing situation, the Indian community in Qatar is urged to be cautious and remain indoors. Please remain calm and follow local news, instructions, and guidance provided by Qatari authorities. The Embassy will also keep updating through our social media channels,” the post read.
The warning came after Iran launched multiple ballistic missiles targeting US military assets, most notably the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar—the largest American military installation in the Middle East. CNN reports confirm that simultaneous missile attacks were carried out on American positions in Iraq as well.
The strikes mark a dramatic response to the earlier US airstrikes that struck three key Iranian nuclear facilities. The Pentagon is monitoring the situation closely, with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Dan Caine currently stationed in the White House Situation Room to assess the unfolding crisis.
According to Iranian state media, the retaliatory assault has been dubbed ‘Operation Basharat al-Fath’ and is aimed squarely at US military interests in the region. The US embassies in both Qatar and Bahrain reportedly enacted emergency protocols, with personnel entering “duck and cover” positions as the missiles approached.
Adding to the precautionary measures, the Qatari government has temporarily suspended all air traffic in its airspace to ensure public safety. In a statement posted to X, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “Qatar’s Relevant Authorities Announce Temporary Suspension of Air Traffic in Country’s Airspace to Ensure Safety of Citizens, Residents, and Visitors.”
With tensions at a boiling point, Indian officials continue to monitor developments and are actively using social media to disseminate updates to the community in real time.
