Apple’s fiscal year 2025 commenced with a significant upsurge in iPhone exports originating from India, as official figures reveal a nearly twofold increase in export worth to $1.1 billion (Rs. 9,000 crore). This surge is particularly notable given the typically subdued export activities observed globally in April, underscoring India’s evolving status as Apple’s second-largest manufacturing base for iPhones beyond China.
Analysts foresee Apple surpassing the $11.98 billion (Rs. 1 trillion) export milestone in fiscal year 2025, consolidating India’s pivotal role in its manufacturing framework. Currently, approximately 14-15% of Apple’s production has transitioned to India, a figure expected to escalate to 26% by 2026. This underscores Apple’s firm commitment to the Indian market. In fiscal year 2024, total production, including exports exceeding $10 billion (Rs. 85,000 crore), reached $14 billion (Rs. 1.2 trillion). Apple is leveraging the smartphone production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme to surpass its targets in fiscal year 2025, concurrently concentrating on bolstering its local market presence in India with the aim of attaining a double-digit share in the smartphone market.
