German Ambassador to India, Philipp Ackermann, has highlighted the significant potential for expanding India-Germany relations, describing the partnership as “super well developed” but still with ample room for growth. Speaking at the NDTV World Summit in New Delhi, Ackermann expressed his commitment, along with the Indian and German governments, to further promote and strengthen bilateral ties.
Ackermann also commended India’s ambitious Viksit Bharat 2047 initiative, aimed at making the country a developed nation by the centenary of its independence. He called the vision impressive and affirmed Germany’s support in helping India achieve its developmental objectives wherever possible.
The German envoy described the NDTV World Summit as an important and engaging platform, expressing his pleasure at participating and being part of discussions that foster dialogue and cooperation in multiple areas.
Earlier in September, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and applauded India’s call for a ceasefire in Ukraine. Wadephul highlighted steps taken by both nations to strengthen their strategic partnership across defense, security, trade, economy, and skilled labor sectors.
In meetings with India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, the German delegation discussed enhancing collaboration in industry linkages, talent mobility, digital technologies, semiconductors, and critical technologies. Both sides also deliberated on broader multilateral issues, including regional conflicts, Indo-Pacific security, and closer India-EU engagement, while preparing for the upcoming round of Inter-Governmental Consultations in India.
The developments underscore a growing commitment from both countries to deepen cooperation, leveraging strategic, economic, and technological opportunities to achieve mutual growth and bolster global partnerships.
