India and France have elevated their bilateral relationship to a “Special Global Strategic Partnership,” marking a significant milestone in cooperation across defence, critical minerals, and innovation. The move reflects the growing alignment of both nations’ strategic interests in technology, security, and sustainable development.
Under the agreement, India and France will enhance collaboration in defence manufacturing, focusing on co-development and co-production to bolster India’s domestic capabilities. Both countries also plan to strengthen resilience in global supply chains for critical minerals, essential for advanced manufacturing and clean energy technologies.
The partnership emphasizes innovation and research cooperation in emerging fields, including digital technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI), space exploration, and clean energy. These initiatives aim to expand India’s technological ecosystem and promote sustainable economic growth.
