India’s electronics exports reached a historic high of US$48.2 billion in 2025, marking a significant milestone for the country’s fast-growing manufacturing sector, according to Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw. The minister stated that the record export performance has strengthened India’s foreign exchange position while also supporting large-scale employment across the electronics ecosystem.
The strong export growth reflects India’s expanding capabilities in producing high-value electronic goods, including mobile phones, components, accessories, and advanced electronic devices. Increased production volumes, combined with greater participation from global manufacturers, have played a crucial role in pushing exports to new levels. Government-backed policy incentives and manufacturing support programs have also contributed to improving India’s competitiveness in global markets.
Mr. Vaishnaw noted that the positive momentum in electronics exports is expected to continue through 2026. A key driver of future growth will be the commencement of commercial operations at four semiconductor manufacturing plants, which are set to enhance India’s production depth and export potential. These facilities are expected to strengthen India’s position in the global electronics supply chain by reducing import dependence and increasing domestic value addition.
The rapid expansion of electronics exports highlights the transformation of India’s manufacturing landscape. Over the past few years, the sector has evolved from assembly-focused operations to more integrated production ecosystems. As supply chain activity expands and new facilities become operational, the electronics industry is expected to generate sustained economic benefits, including higher exports, job creation, and technology-driven growth.
Industry scaling, coupled with consistent policy support, has allowed India to emerge as a reliable manufacturing hub for global electronics brands. The continued rise in electronic device exports, alongside steady domestic production growth, is expected to further integrate India into international supply networks.
With semiconductor manufacturing set to come online and global demand for electronics remaining strong, India’s electronics sector is positioned for continued expansion. The record export figures achieved in 2025 underscore the country’s growing role in global electronics manufacturing and signal a strong outlook for export-led growth in the coming years.
