Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi met Brazilian Navy Commander Admiral Marcos Sampaio Olsen to advance the growing maritime partnership between the two nations. The discussions focused on strengthening operational engagements, expanding training exchanges, boosting hydrographic cooperation, improving information sharing, and enhancing maritime domain awareness across the South Atlantic region.
Both sides reviewed ongoing collaboration and explored new avenues in defence technology, innovation, and naval capacity building. The meeting underscored the shared commitment of India and Brazil to deepen strategic convergence and contribute to a secure and stable maritime environment, particularly in the broader Global South.
Admiral Tripathi is on an official visit to Brazil aimed at consolidating the robust maritime ties that form an important pillar of the India–Brazil Strategic Partnership. He is scheduled to hold further talks with senior Brazilian leadership, including Defence Minister Jose Mucio and Admiral Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Brazilian Armed Forces.
The visit also includes engagements with naval commands, shipyards, and operational bases of the Brazilian Navy. These interactions are expected to strengthen interoperability, support capacity building, and expand cooperation within multilateral maritime frameworks.
India and Brazil continue to reinforce their shared maritime priorities through sustained professional exchanges and joint initiatives, reflecting their long-term commitment to safeguarding global maritime commons.
