India has initiated the construction of a school and hostel buildings in Nepal’s Pyuthan district. This initiative is a component of the High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP), a joint endeavor between India and Nepal.
The Shree Dang-Bang Secondary School & Hostel Buildings at Airawati Rural Municipality-1 are being constructed with financial assistance from the Indian government, amounting to NRs 33.92 million, under the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ program. The foundation stone was jointly laid by Nabil Bikram Shah, Chairman of Airawati Rural Municipality, and Prashant Kumar Sona, Second Secretary at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu.
According to an official release from the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, the project is being implemented through the Airawati Rural Municipality in Pyuthan and highlights the strong development partnership between India and Nepal.
Local political representatives, the School Management Committee, and other stakeholders praised the Indian government’s continued support in enhancing Nepal’s educational infrastructure. They emphasized that the new school and hostel buildings would significantly improve educational opportunities and living conditions for students, fostering a better learning environment in the region.
Since 2003, India has undertaken over 551 HICDPs in Nepal, completing 490 projects across various sectors. In Lumbini Province alone, 61 projects have been completed, including two in Pyuthan. Additionally, India has donated 1009 ambulances and 300 school buses to various health and educational institutions in Nepal, with 164 ambulances and 43 school buses allocated to Lumbini Province, including 10 ambulances in Pyuthan District.
India and Nepal continue to maintain close ties, engaging in extensive multi-sectoral cooperation.
