The final day of the three-day SemiconIndia 2023 conference witnessed remarks from Dr. S. Jaishankar, the External Affairs Minister, who highlighted the importance of India’s growth in the electronics sector, particularly semiconductors, and its position in crucial and developing technologies. He emphasized India’s role as a reliable partner in global electronics manufacturing, stressing the significance of international collaborations with the US, Japan, and Australia, and exploring potential opportunities with other like-minded nations.
On its concluding day, the SemiconIndia 2023 Conference brought together various participants, including representatives from business, startups, academia, and the government. The event led to the development of a strong, resilient, and sustainable semiconductor ecosystem, thanks to enlightening sessions and captivating speeches that shed light on key aspects of semiconductor manufacturing.
Following India’s belief in ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ or ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future,’ a dedicated panel discussion was held, led by Mr. Anshuman Tripathi, Member, NSCS, on “International Collaboration for Trusted and Resilient Semiconductor Supply Chain.” The discussion explored the potential of global partnerships in enhancing the semiconductor industry, with a focus on India’s role in becoming a major player in semiconductor manufacturing, research, talent exchange, clean energy transitions, and critical minerals exploration.
Another panel discussion took place, focusing on opportunities and challenges in emerging technologies and featuring renowned experts. Additionally, an engaging discussion titled “Catalysing New India’s Techade” was held, along with panel discussions on the readiness assessment for the semiconductor ecosystem.
The conference also deliberated on “Global Semiconductor Talent Capital,” exploring the implementation of the Semicon India FutureSkills Talent Roadmap to transform India into a Semiconductor Talent Nation.
Ms. Jaya Jagadish, AMD India, stated that the second edition of SemiconIndia marked a significant shift, with the question changing from “Why invest in India” to “Why not invest in India” in the semiconductor industry, as noted by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi.
By involving multinational corporations in top leadership and academia, the second edition of SemiconIndia has positioned India at the forefront of discussions on the future of technology, particularly semiconductors. It serves as the formal launch pad for India’s semiconductor journey, with the goal of becoming a major global producer of electronics and semiconductors.
