On the second day of the International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH-2024) in New Delhi, India’s upcoming partnership with European Hydrogen Week, scheduled for November 2024, was highlighted. This collaboration aims to synchronise with EU green regulations to boost exports. A Letter of Intent was signed between Chane Terminal from the Netherlands and ACME Cleantech from India to establish ammonia import terminals.
The conference featured sessions with contributions from the EU, Australia, and the Netherlands, focusing on green hydrogen’s role in global decarbonization. Mr. Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary of the Ministry of Power, discussed the EU’s efforts to reform its Emission Trading System to make hydrogen a viable alternative to fossil fuels. Key discussions revolved around the need for international collaboration to tackle challenges related to technology advancement, regulatory frameworks, and renewable energy accessibility.
The event also included a dedicated session for youth, highlighting their critical role in climate action and sustainability. Notable speaker Ms. Saina Nehwal inspired attendees to support a sustainable future. The youth panel explored how green hydrogen can help India meet its renewable energy targets by 2030. The GH2Thon Hackathon showcased innovative solutions, with Mr. Nandlal Gupta from IIT Bombay winning for his contributions to hydrogen technology.
Over 2000 delegates, including industry experts and policymakers, participated in various roundtables, fostering international collaboration. The conference underscored the importance of advancing green hydrogen technologies and building partnerships for a sustainable future, with support from multiple government ministries and organisations.
