Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, bestowed honors upon Professors Ashutosh Sabharwal, Arti Gupta, Ayush Jain, and tech professional Gurtej S Sandhu at the 54th Convocation ceremony through the 2023 Alumni Awards. Sabharwal, Arti Gupta, and Sandhu were granted the Distinguished Alumni Award, while Jain received the Graduates of Last Decades (Gold) Award.
At present, Ashutosh Sabharwal holds the position of Ernest Dell Butcher Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and serves as the department chair at Rice University in Houston. He is actively involved in researching two separate domains. He delves into wireless technology, covering both foundational theory and experimental systems, while simultaneously exploring health-related aspects at the nexus of engineering, behavioral sciences, and medicine. Holding a B.Tech from IIT – Delhi, he further pursued his master’s and Ph.D. degrees at the Ohio State University.
Dr. Arti Gupta is an esteemed academician at Princeton University’s Computer Science Department in New Jersey. Her professional journey included leadership of a team at NEC Labs America, where she pioneered novel methodologies for formal verification of software and hardware systems, contributing significantly to their practical application in industries. Having completed her Ph.D. in computer science at Carnegie Mellon University and earned a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from IIT Delhi, she stands as a testament to her academic prowess.
A distinguished technologist, Gurtej S Sandhu serves as a senior fellow and vice president at Micron Technology. His current role entails overseeing the company’s comprehensive (Si-to-Package) R&D technology roadmaps. With a portfolio of over 1,300 U.S. patents, he ranks among the world’s foremost inventors and holds the distinction of being a Fellow of IEEE. He also boasts the prestigious IEEE Andrew S. Grove Award.
Ayush Jain, an assistant professor at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, made his mark in the academic world. His previous role was as a postdoctoral fellow at NTT Research Inc. in Silicon Valley. Jain’s research passion revolves around theoretical and applied cryptography, often interlinked with various facets of theoretical computer science.
