The Indo-American Cultural Foundation of Central Jersey (IACFNJ) is set to host a festive celebration honoring India’s Independence Day on Saturday, August 16, 2025, starting at 11 a.m. The event will take place at Shree Swaminarayan Temple (Vadtal Dham), located at 1667 Amwell Road, Somerset, New Jersey.
This community-wide celebration will bring together residents from Somerset, South Brunswick, North Brunswick, and nearby towns. The lively gathering will feature patriotic and cultural dance performances, live singing, a DJ, henna artists, and fun activities for kids. The event is free and open to the public, drawing a diverse audience from across Central Jersey.
In a show of unity and civic pride, several local and state officials are expected to attend and address the gathering, highlighting the contributions of the Indian-American community.
This celebration is hosted in partnership with the Shree Swaminarayan Temple, continuing IACFNJ’s legacy of organizing meaningful events that showcase Indian heritage and foster community spirit. For over 20 years, IACFNJ has served as a cultural bridge in Central Jersey, organizing events such as spring festivals, summer picnics, Navratri Garba, and holiday parties.
Furthering its dedication to youth empowerment and education, IACFNJ proudly awarded seven scholarships in 2025 to high school students from North and South Brunswick. These scholarships were given in recognition of academic merit and excellence. Two of the awards at North Brunswick High School were presented in memory of late IACFNJ leaders—Murthy Yerramilli (Trustee) and Sunil Shah (Treasurer). Their legacies were honored through heartfelt presentations by Darshan Shah (Sunil Shah’s son), IACFNJ President Dr. Tushar Patel, Mahendra Patel, and Dimple Patel during the schools’ Senior Awards Nights on June 3 and June 11, 2025.
Looking ahead, IACFNJ will soon announce details for its much-anticipated Navratri Garba celebration in September 2025, another highlight on the community calendar.
