A student-driven advocacy group, Hindu on Campus (HOC), has launched a dedicated online platform to document instances of Hinduphobia across university campuses in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
The website catalogs over 100 cases of reported anti-Hindu and anti-India bias from the past four years. It serves as a resource for Hindu advocacy groups and organizations working to address discrimination and ensure fair treatment of Hindu students.
Announcing the launch on social media platform X, Hindu on Campus shared:
“We have created the first website dedicated to tracking Hinduphobia on university campuses. It compiles over 100 cases of anti-Hindu and anti-India incidents from the past four years across US, UK, Canada, and Australia. Hindu organizations can use this data for advocacy efforts.”
Founded in March 2021, HOC aims to amplify Gen Z Hindu voices, combat Hinduphobia, and advocate for equal treatment in academic settings. The group focuses on grassroots activism, digital awareness campaigns, and data-driven advocacy to highlight discrimination against Hindus.
The Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) welcomed this initiative, stating:
“This documentation of anti-Hindu incidents on college campuses by @hinduoncampus is an important step. We look forward to incorporating this data into our discussions with key stakeholders.”
The launch of this platform comes amid growing concerns over anti-Hindu rhetoric. A 2022 study by Rutgers University highlighted a sharp rise in online hate speech targeting Hindus, reinforcing the need for structured documentation and advocacy efforts.
