Hindu American organizations have expressed their support for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, who has pledged to safeguard the human rights of Hindus worldwide, including in the U.S. and Bangladesh. In his Diwali message, Trump condemned the “barbaric violence” against Hindus, Christians, and other minorities in Bangladesh, describing the situation there as chaotic.
“It would have never happened on my watch. Kamala and Joe have ignored Hindus across the world and in America,” Trump stated, criticizing the current administration’s foreign policy and promising to restore strength and peace in the U.S. He emphasized his commitment to protect Hindu Americans from what he termed the “anti-religion agenda of the radical left” and pledged to strengthen ties with India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Utsav Sanduja, founder and chairman of Hindus for America First, expressed gratitude towards Trump, highlighting a lack of response from Vice President Kamala Harris regarding these issues. Sanduja noted a shift in Indian American voting patterns, indicating increasing support for Trump, which he attributes to Trump’s stance on human rights issues affecting Hindus.
Organizations like HinduAction also commended Trump’s statements, recognizing the dire situation for Hindus in Bangladesh. Indian-American Nathan Punwani thanked Trump for his moral clarity in addressing anti-Hindu violence.
Sanduja mentioned that many in the Hindu community played a role in advocating for Trump’s recognition of these issues, suggesting that Trump’s recent statements may further increase support among Hindu Americans as they become more aware of his commitment to their rights. According to recent surveys, Trump has seen a rise in support among Indian Americans, climbing from 22% to 32% compared to the last election, as more individuals consider his promises and leadership in addressing their concerns.
