Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, had a productive discussion with US Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo, during the India-US CEO Forum held in Washington, DC. Their conversation revolved around strengthening cooperation in critical sectors such as defense, space, semiconductors, telecom, artificial intelligence (AI), and clean energy, all of which are pivotal for advancing the economies of both nations.
Goyal shared the details of the meeting on social media platform ‘X’, expressing optimism about prospects for tech and R&D collaboration in these sectors. The minister also highlighted opportunities for increased US investments in India, especially in the upcoming 20 industrial cities, designed to foster mutual growth.
The meeting underscored the importance of R&D partnerships to encourage innovation, which could play a significant role in the economic and technological advancement of both countries. Additionally, the conversation explored potential investments from US businesses in India’s industrial development, further promoting shared growth and job creation.
Goyal, who has been visiting the US since September 30, concluded his trip today. During his time in the country, he addressed the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum’s CEO Roundtable, emphasizing India’s robust economic growth, a thriving manufacturing sector, and improvements in the ease of doing business. He invited American companies to actively participate in India’s growth story, strengthening bilateral relations and driving global economic progress.
In separate meetings, Goyal held talks with top executives from major global corporations, including Ali Dibadj and Sukh Grewal from Janus Henderson Investors. Their discussions focused on expanding the firm’s presence and potential business collaborations in India.
