The 2024 GOPIO convention, themed ‘Opportunities for Diaspora Indians in India’s Big Manifest Future,’ is scheduled for April 26-28 at the Royal Albert Palace in New Jersey. The event aims to explore India’s current and future prospects and the potential contributions of diaspora Indians in shaping this vision.
Organized by the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO), the convention was launched with a planning meeting on Jan 28 at the Royal Albert Palace in New Jersey, attended by GOPIO officials and representatives from various community and professional organizations. Prakash Shah, a businessman from New Jersey, has been designated as the Convention Convener by the GOPIO Executive Council.
During the launch, Shah highlighted the optimistic investment opportunities in India, citing the country’s growing stock exchange and the need for diaspora investment. GOPIO President Lal Motwani emphasized the significance of this event, marking the first major convention in the USA after eight years.
The convention will feature five conference sessions covering various topics, including the role of diaspora youth and women, advancements in technology and innovation, business networking, and healthcare contributions. A 50-member convention committee, led by Prakash Shah, has been formed to oversee the event’s planning and execution.
GOPIO has arranged for transportation from Newark Airport to the convention venue for attendees. Additionally, a trip to Capitol Hill in Washington DC is planned on April 29 to advocate for House HR 6542, aimed at reforming immigration policies.
Overseas delegates must register for the convention before receiving an invitation letter for a visa application. For visa inquiries and assistance, individuals can contact Prakash Shah or Lal Motwani directly via email or phone.
