The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) will carry out pan-India monitoring in an effort to stop the adulteration of milk products throughout India. The monitoring would be carried out on a vast scale, with samples being collected from both the organized and unorganized sectors in all districts throughout the nation, the FSSAI declared on Thursday. The food authorities will gather samples of goods including khoa (condensed milk), chenna (cheese), paneer (cottage cheese), ghee (clarified butter), butter, curd, and ice cream as part of the continuous campaign to stop the adulteration of dairy products.
In accordance with the data provided by the food authority, the survey will assess the samples’ compliance with quality and safety standards. Additionally, it will pinpoint areas where milk and milk products are most likely to be contaminated and provide solutions.
According to the FSSAI’s official announcement, the 2018 National Milk Safety and Quality Survey took place in all states and Union territories. From 1,103 towns and cities with a population of more than 50,000, 6,432 milk samples from the organized and unorganized sectors were gathered. In order to evaluate the security and caliber of milk products and sweets served during festivals, the FSSAI has carried out the Pan-India Milk Products Survey, 2020. From 542 districts nationwide, 2,801 samples of milk products from the organized and unorganized sectors (paneer, khoa, chhena, khoa-based sweets, and chhena-based desserts) were gathered.
