The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has appointed Shohini Sinha as the assistant director of the Victim Services Division. Prior to this role, Ms. Sinha served as the special agent in charge of the Salt Lake City Field Office.
Ms. Sinha’s career with the FBI began in 2001 as a special agent in the Milwaukee Field Office, where she worked on counterterrorism investigations. Over the years, she took on several temporary assignments, including roles at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, the FBI Legal Attaché Office in London, and the Baghdad Operations Center.
Her leadership trajectory continued in 2009 when she was promoted to supervisory special agent in the Counterterrorism Division in Washington, D.C. She managed Canada-based extraterritorial investigations and played a key role in coordinating efforts with Canadian liaison officers.
In 2012, she was assigned to Ottawa, Canada, as an assistant legal attaché, collaborating with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service on counterterrorism initiatives. She later became a field supervisor in the Detroit Field Office, overseeing teams investigating international terrorism cases.
In 2020, Ms. Sinha transitioned to the Cyber Intrusion squad, tackling national security and criminal cyber threats. That same year, she was promoted to assistant special agent in charge at the Portland Field Office, where she oversaw both national security and criminal investigations.
Her expertise led her to the role of executive special assistant to the FBI director in 2021, before her appointment as special agent in charge of the Salt Lake City Field Office in July 2023.
Before joining the FBI, Ms. Sinha worked as a therapist and later an administrator at a private, not-for-profit clinic. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Purdue University in Indiana.
