Elon Musk’s satellite internet company, Starlink, is preparing to revolutionize India’s digital landscape by delivering affordable, high-speed internet access to even the most remote corners of the country. The tech visionary shared his ambitious plan during an exclusive meeting with members of the India Global Forum (IGF) delegation at Starlink’s headquarters in Austin, Texas.
In a post shared by the India Global Forum on social media, Musk emphasized his mission to “connect every corner of the world – including India’s remotest regions – through affordable, high-speed satellite internet.” The initiative underscores Starlink’s broader goal of enabling digital inclusion by bridging connectivity gaps in developing economies.
This development comes shortly after Starlink signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with the Government of Maharashtra, making it the first Indian state to formally partner with Musk’s company for deploying satellite-based internet. The collaboration aims to bring reliable and fast connectivity to government offices, rural communities, and essential public infrastructure across Maharashtra.
Through this initiative, Starlink seeks to empower India’s digital transformation journey, complementing the country’s efforts to promote equitable access to technology. Affordable satellite connectivity is expected to accelerate education, healthcare, and e-governance services in underserved regions.
The India Global Forum delegation, led by Manoj Ladwa, also met with leaders from other technology giants such as Tesla, Anthropic, and OpenAI as part of IGF USA 2025. These visits are designed to strengthen international cooperation and reinforce India’s role as a leading force in global innovation.
A photograph shared by IGF captured a symbolic moment featuring Elon Musk holding a Ganesh Murti, reflecting a spirit of cultural harmony and collaboration between India and the global tech community.
The India Global Forum serves as a key platform for dialogue among global leaders from business, politics, and culture, with a strong focus on shaping modern India’s role in the innovation economy. Partnerships like the one between Starlink and Maharashtra showcase how India continues to bridge its vast potential with the world’s leading enterprises to build an inclusive, connected future.
