The Indian American Kerala Cultural and Civic Center, Inc. will recognize eight Malayalees for their remarkable achievements and contributions to society during the 32nd Annual Awards Dinner on October 19. The event is set to draw public officials and leaders from both the USA and India.
Dr. Thomas Abraham, the Chairman of the Trustee Board and member of the Awards Committee, emphasized the long-standing tradition of honoring outstanding individuals since 1992. He noted that every year, nominees are carefully evaluated, and the Award Committee makes unanimous decisions on the most deserving candidates. This year’s selections are no exception, showcasing individuals who have excelled in their fields.
Chairman of the Board and Award Committee, expressed pride in honoring Malayalees who have not only achieved professional excellence but also contributed to societal progress. He remarked that their work should serve as inspiration to others.
This year’s honorees include Johnson Samuel (Long Island, NY) for Humanitarian and Social Service, Suja Thomas (Albany, NY) for Nursing Leadership, Wesley Mathews (Trenton, NJ) for Public Service, Dr. Sunanda Nair (Houston, TX) for Performing Arts, Hashim Mooppan (Washington, DC) for Legal Services, Samcy Kodumon (Long Island, NY) for Pravasi Malayalam Literature, Sibu Nair (Buffalo, NY) for Community Service, and Varkey Abraham (Long Island, NY) for Business Leadership.
The awards ceremony will take place at the Kerala Center in Elmont, New York, featuring a variety of entertainment and a dinner. Dr. Madhu Bhaskaran, Dr. Thomas Abraham, and Daisy P. Stephen make up this year’s Awards Committee. Kerala Center President Alex K. Esthappan highlighted that over 185 American Malayalees have been recognized in the last 32 years, many of whom continue to excel in their careers and contribute to society.
